Love Mercy

Scripture
Micah 6:8 No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Observation
This is in response to all the sacrifices that could be offered. Instead, Micah says to live right.

Application
Righteousness. Mercy. They seem to be at opposite ends of the spectrum, but truly living righteously is coupled with loving to extend mercy. LOVE Mercy. Love to show mercy.

Prayer
Merciful God give me a merciful heart. (Bob Kilpatrick)

Sowing Righteousness, Reaping Love

Scripture
Hosea 10:12
I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you. ’

Observation
This is a great metaphor. Plant seeds of righteousness and harvest not righteousness, but love. And then the Lord will bring showers of righteousness.

Application
Yes, this is talking about relationship with the Lord. However I want to determine to sow seeds of righteousness, to walk on the right path, with my family. I hope as I endeavor to live as a servant with a good attitude towards them, that they may discover love for me.

Prayer
Lord, please help me to have a happy attitude and be a blessing to Audrey, Dougie, Robyn and Emily Dawn.

Entrusted

Scripture
Hosea 6:7
But like Adam, you broke my covenant and betrayed my trust.

Observation
I hear God saying "I trusted you". Judas wasn't the first man to betray God, Adam was.

Application
How my heart desires to not betray God's trust. A good question to ask then is "What has God entrusted to me?". I will start a list and see how that goes. I will start the list today.

Prayer
Father, please help me determine the things you have clearly entrusted to me, and then be faithful to not betray Your trust.
