Snake Bite

Paul pitched in and helped. He had gathered up a bundle of sticks, but when he put it on the fire, a venomous snake, roused from its torpor by the heat, struck his hand and held on. Seeing the snake hanging from Paul's hand like that, the natives jumped to the conclusion that he was a murderer getting his just deserts. Paul shook the snake off into the fire, none the worse for wear. They kept expecting him to drop dead, but when it was obvious he wasn't going to, they jumped to the conclusion that he was a god. Acts 28:3-6
Paul, a prisoner, was willing to pitch in and help. A prisoner, ready to help and serve. And in the midst of serving, he is bit by a snake. He could have avoided this deadly snake bite if he wasn't helping ~ thats the attitude that I think I would have. If I had only let others do the work, I would be fine. Trying to help got me into this mess. But it actually ended up being opportunity to see the power of God demonstrated again, and enjoy a nice fire :) I need the attitude of a servant, no matter the cost, that people might see the power of God demonstrated.
