I’ve Got Confidence

S ~ “They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.”  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭112:7-8‬

O ~ Bad news is inevitable. The psalmist declared that it could be faced fearlessly by trusting in the Lord’s care.

A ~ Bad news has such limited power for those who trust in the Lord. Trusting in His loving care allows me to face fear and foes with confidence - like the old Andrae Crouch song...

When trouble is in my way
I can't tell my night from day
When I'm tossed from side to side
Like a ship on a raging tide
I don't worry I don't fret
My God has never failed me yet
Troubles come from time to time
But that's all right,
I'm not the worrying kind because
I've got confidence
God is gonna see me through
No matter what the case may be
I know He's gonna fix it for me

P ~ Lord, not only for me, but especially for my girls today - may they face this day in the full light of Y
our loving care, filled with confidence.

Take It To Heart

S ~ Those who are wise will take all this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord. Psalm 107:43

O ~ The psalmist has listed so many things that the Lord has done for Israel, specifically getting them out of tough spots, including passing them through the Red Sea. Time and time again He rescued His people. These are not only stories to recall, but to ‘take to heart’ - remembering the faithful love of the Lord, not just the details of the stories.

A ~ As I read this psalm, I came to the part about the Red Sea. I thought to myself, yeah yeah - the Red Sea - I know the story. God did that for them - and it was great and everything, but kinda like ‘that really doesn’t affect my day’. Unwise. I need to not just know the story, but allow the story to move from my head to my heart, as I meditate on the faithful love of the Lord, and even how He demonstrates His love by rescuing His people. When I take that to heart, it brings joy in my day, and hope for all my days.

P ~ Father God, thank You for Your faithful love for Your people, and thank You for adopting me to be one of ‘Your people’. Your rescuing heroic deeds are innumerable, and Your love knows no bounds, and Your faithfulness is ceaseless.  I am undone. I am full of gratitude. I am wise... for today, I have taken these things to heart.

Character While Dreaming

S ~ Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character. Psalm 105:19

O ~ “Until the time.” It does not appear his character was tested only once.
If it was only once, it was once... for 17 years.
But... there would be a time to fulfill his dreams.
Fulfilled dreams take time.
Until then ~ testing of character. Proving of character. Strengthening of character.

A ~ I have unfulfilled dreams.
I have dreams that I have forgotten about, visions that have become merely dreams, and dreams I have simply given up on.
I wonder if the Lord has remembered those dreams.
I wonder which ones He is willing to fulfill.
I wonder what His timing is.
I wonder what my part is - how passionate, or intentional, I need to be in fulfilling dreams.
I wonder where are merely my dreams, birthed of self-centred motives, and which are dreams The Father has for a son.
In all the wondering, I don’t have to wonder about this: until dreams are fulfilled in God’s timing, I need to pass the character test - over, and over, and over.

P ~ Lord, I give my dreams to you - the ones I remember, and the ones that have vanished. I place my past, present and future in your hands - and I pray you would fulfill your dreams for my life, in your perfect time. Until then, please help me to be found faithful.

Have Thine own way Lord, Have Thine own way
Thou Are the Potter, I am the clay
Mold me and make me, after Thy will
While I am waiting, yielded and still.
