Depression Deepens

S ~ Come quickly, Lord, and answer me, for my depression deepens.
Don’t turn away from me, or I will die.
Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you.
Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Psalm 143:7-8

O ~ Depression deepens. Left unchecked, depression deepens. There is a low grade depression that can exist just under the surface - always there, always present. Yet at some point, when things go wrong or troubles arrive, depression creeps deeper. It is not all at once, but a constant inching forward. Deeper. Darker.  And so the psalmist cries out to God - that He would not turn away from him. And in the midst of that desperate cry, there is a plan - awake each morning. Make the decision to awake each morning - and look for the Lord's love, a strength for each day. Make the decision to trust the Lord. Make the decision to follow the Lord each day, that you might know where to walk. And make the decision each day to not take life into your own hands, but but your life in His hands - each morning - give yourself to Him.

A ~ SOAP every morning - including the prayer time. Not just a written prayer regarding the current day's reading, but a prayer that includes looking to the Lord for His love and guidance, and renewing my commitment to follow Him no matter how I feel, or how things turn out.

P ~ Lord, thank You for Your unfailing love, and that You do come quickly. Thank You that depression can try to deepen, but not only are You the lifter of my head, You are the lifter of my depression. It may seem like I'm surrounded but I'm surrounded by You!
