O ~ John the Baptist is in prison, but Jesus is working miracles elsewhere. His Kingdom being at hand looks very different through prison bars. Jesus is doing for others what He is not doing for John. Ouch.
A ~ Jesus speaks so highly of His cousin, but when His cousin is in trouble, He lets him rot in prison - or so it seems. Although 'rotting in prison' isn't actual, as John doesn't spend a long time in prison - he is beheaded with some haste. Sometimes it is hard when Jesus helps others in the way we would like to be helped. It is hard when our need seems to be overlooked. It is hard when we know Jesus sees our need, but is busy elsewhere. It's one thing to continue to be His disciple when the world is attacking us for our decision, it's another thing to continue to be His disciple when the One we are following seems indifferent to our need - especially when it is life threatening. P ~ Lord, my song remains... "I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back."
