The Character of Moses

S ~ But some other shepherds came and chased them away. So Moses jumped up and rescued the girls from the shepherds. Then he drew water for their flocks. Exodus 2:17

O ~ We are introduced to Moses as a man who will step in and defend others - he protected a Hebrew slave from an Egyptian who was beating him. That every act cost him his place of power in Egypt. As an outcast and renegade, he flees to the desert. Instead of being bitter and refusing to 'get involved again', he immediately intervenes to protect a group of women from some nasty shepherds. His caring character was revealed ~ standing up for those who can't stand up for themselves. God sure picked the right guy to lead his children out of Egypt.

A ~ Looking the other way, and not getting involved, is not what God has called any of us to. We need wisdom and timing and understanding, but may we be like Moses ~ alleviating the oppression of others.

P ~ Lord, thank You for this clear example of the character of a christian leader. May I follow his example.
